1. A brief introduction of the Beijing Dance Festival :

The Beijing Dance Festival is one of the biggest celebration of dance in Beijing and among cities in China.  More than 145 dance artists, close to 200 dance students and more than 5500 audiences congregate in Beijing every summer.  These participants come from cities throughout China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, as well as North & Central America, Europe, Africa, and Asia across the world.
 
The Beijing Dance Festival is presented and jointly-organized by the BeijingDance/LDTX Dance Company, Guangdong Modern Dance Company (GMDC) and Hong Kong’s City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC).  Together with the Guangdong Dance Festival, it has become one of the biggest contemporary dance network in China.  The Beijing Dance Festival began in 2008 as a one-week festivity alternating between international and China artist-focus every year.  Since 2012, it had combined both international and China artists and expanded to become two weeks duration.
 
The two-week Beijing Dance Festival is composed of two parts: First part as educational week while the second as performance week.

Youth Dance Marathon: featuring more than 60 original works from young choreographers from all over China. For a detailed information about participation please click here.

Springboard: featuring experimental and cutting-edge Programs by national and international artists and companies

Focus: featuring productions by leading and renowned national and international dance companies

Symposium: with discussions and presentations about the latest trends of contemporary dance with renowned guest speakers

Master-classes: dance courses during the performance during the second week of the festival professional teachers from China and abroad, as well as some of the choreographers of the presented Programs are giving master classes that are open for students for all levels.

 

2. When and where does the Beijing Dance Festival take place?

The Beijing Dance Festival is held annually in July in Beijing.
 
For 2016, it will take place from July 21 to 26.
 
July 13-21: International Dance Camp
at Shanxi Vocational College of Art, in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province
 
July 22-26: Youth Dance Marathon
at LDTX Theater
 
July 21-26: Focus & Springboard performances
at Beijing Tianqiao Arts Center

 

3.  Where can I find more information about the Program of the Beijing Dance Festival?

The Beijing Dance Festival presents a broad variety of programs with artists from China and from worldwide.  It also gives a unique insight into the Chinese contemporary dance, as well as into the trends of dance all over the world.

4. Who can participate in the Beijing Dance Festival?

The Beijing Dance Festival welcomes students from all levels and professinals to participate in the festival. Please find more details about the participation in various platforms below:

Dance Camp – Students of all levels are welcome to participate in this educational week with dance courses by national and international professional teachers for six consecutive days. For more details about the participation and other details please click here.

Master classes – during the second week of the festival professional teachers from China and abroad, as well as some of the choreographers of the presented Programs are giving master classes that are open for students for all levels.  Rigistration will open on July 23,2015. Detailed schedule and information will be updated later.

Youth Dance Marathon – This platform gives very young artists the chance to present their work on stage with professional technical support and in front of very enthisastic audience. Springboard & Focus

The Beijing Dance Festival offers a platform for both young and emerging artists and dance companies, as well as for established and renowned companies and artists.
